Crying Man

A Sonnet

This is my first attempt ever at writing a sonnet. Here goes:

If I should stare with unrelenting steel
Mayhap I would then see beyond the air
To the place where things aren't really real
The Land of Half-Way Up and Down the Stair
Where windmills fly gracefully through the sky
And trains do dive into the ocean deep
Where penguins ride on cannon balls to fly
And children all blow bubbles in their sleep
The ducks would use umberellas if it rained
Bedappled with bright colours of good cheer
The spectacle would keep me entertained
And while away an hour so dull and drear
But the world frowns upon me when I stare
And time to stare just simply isn't there.
